Alumni Library Use Policy

Alumni may be asked to present a means of personal identification when checking out materials. If their library account is not already present in the library circulation system and needs to be created, library staff will verify alumni status by either consulting the last published Alumni Directory or contacting the Alumni Relations Office.

  • Alumni may borrow 10 books for 30 days, 10 magazines for 14 days, and 5 DVDs/videos for 7 days.
  • The following services are not available to alumni borrowers: interlibrary loan, test borrowing, media equipment borrowing, and reserving study rooms.
  • Fines and replacement costs are the responsibility of the borrower.
  • Alumni are able to utilize the Rivier University databases from on campus only. Off-campus use is restricted to current students, faculty, staff, Sisters, and faculty emeriti due to licensing agreements.

NHCUC Library Use Policy

Rivier University is a member of the New Hampshire College and University Council. Currently enrolled NHCUC students and faculty have limited borrowing privileges at Regina Library. NHCUC institutions include:

Antioch University New England, Colby-Sawyer College, Community College System of NH, Franklin Pierce University, Hellenic American University, Keene State College, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences-Manchester, New England College, Plymouth State University, Saint Anselm College, Southern New Hampshire University, University of New Hampshire.

Borrowing Information for Rivier Students and Faculty visiting a NHCUC library:

  • Before visiting a NHCUC library, Rivier students and faculty are encouraged to call ahead to determine borrowing policies and hours of operation. Some libraries may not extend borrowing privileges.
  • NHCUC policies require that you present your validated, bar-coded Rivier University ID when borrowing material.
  • Loan and fine policies of the lending libraries apply. Overdue fines are paid directly to the lending library.
  • Books borrowed from the NHCUC consortium can be returned to Regina Library. Please plan ahead so your books are returned to the lending library on time.

Information for NHCUC Students and Faculty Borrowing from Rivier:

  • NHCUC policies require that you present a current bar-coded university ID when borrowing material.
  • NHCUC students and faculty may borrow 10 books for 30 days. Videos, tests, and media borrowing are excluded.
  • Books circulate for 30 days with up to two renewals. Books that have a “HOLD” status may not be renewed.
  • The following services are not available to NHCUC borrowers: interlibrary loan, placing a hold on a book, and reserving study rooms.
  • Overdue fines are the responsibility of the borrower.

RISE Library Use Policy

Borrowing

  • Currently enrolled RISE members use their Rivier ID card as their library card.
  • Maximum of 10 books circulate for 30 days, 10 magazines for 14 days, and 5 DVDs/videos for 7 days. Media equipment may circulate to RISE instructors only.
  • The following services are not available to RISE members: interlibrary loan, test borrowing, media equipment borrowing, reserving study rooms, and off-campus access to e-books and databases. E-books and database use are restricted to current students (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral), faculty, staff, Sisters, and faculty emeriti due to licensing agreements.

Computer Use

  • Access to Regina Library’s computers is available in the Reference Room. Ask reference staff to be logged onto a non-printing guest account. RISE members do not have remote access to library subscription databases or wireless access in the library.

Rivier Sodexo & SSC Staff Library Use Policy

Borrowing

  • Currently employed Rivier Sodexo & SSC staff register at the library circulation desk. Library staff will verify employment with Sodexo or SSC management. Upon confirmation, Sodexo & SSC staff have the following privileges:
  • Maximum of 10 books circulate for 30 days with up to two renewals on books that do not have an existing hold.
  • Maximum of 2 videos circulate for 1 week – no renewals.
  • The following services are not available to Sodexo & SSC borrowers: interlibrary loan, test borrowing, media equipment borrowing, placing a hold on library materials, and reserving study rooms.

Computer Use

  • Access to Regina Library’s computers is available in the Reference Room. Ask reference staff to be logged onto a non-printing guest account. Sodexo & SSC staff do not have remote access to library subscription databases or wireless access in the library.

Public Use Policy

Members of the general public is defined as persons who are not part of any of the following groups: current Rivier students, faculty, or staff; Alumni; NHCUC members; members of RISE; Rivier SODEXO or SSC staff; Sisters of the Presentation of Mary; faculty emeriti.  

Borrowing

  • Borrowing privileges are not available to members of the general public.

Computer Use

  • Regina Library computers are not available for members of the general public.

Seating, Tables, and Room Use

  • Use of open table space, seating, and study rooms is limited to members of the Rivier community.
