Living Our Mission
Our mission of transforming hearts and minds to serve the world is vibrant on our campus and in our community.
Guided by Rivier’s Roman Catholic tradition and core mission of educating the whole person, Campus Ministry equips students to lead lives of deeper meaning and purpose.
Campus Ministry offers countless ways to put your faith in action, from service projects to international mission trips. Through discussion, prayer, and service, you will find yourself in a welcoming community at Rivier.
The Office of Campus Ministry serves the spiritual, social and personal needs of the campus community, providing opportunities where values are challenged, and faith is affirmed. Activities stem from Jesus’ call to live in imitation of his commitment to faith, justice and compassion.
In 1796, Anne Marie Rivier founded the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Thueyts, France. The congregation grew very quickly throughout Europe and the first sisters came to the United States in 1873 to Glens Falls, NY.
In 1933, Sister Madeleine of Jesus, joined by four other sisters, founded Rivier College, which became Rivier University on July 1, 2012. Anne Marie Rivier was beatified in 1982, the first step toward canonization as a saint in the Catholic Church. She was canonized as Saint Marie Rivier by Pope Francis at Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome on May 15, 2022.
The life and spirit of Saint Marie Rivier kindles the mission of the institution to transform hearts and minds to serve the world.
Rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, Campus Ministry welcomes people of all faith traditions.
