New incoming students for Fall 2026, both first-year and transfer students, will receive information via their Rivier student email account starting in mid-March regarding the housing assignment process. • Monday, July 6, 9 a.m. – Deadline for roommate requests.
  • Week of July 13 – Housing and roommate assignments will be available in MCR Housing.
  • Friday, July 24, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. – First Look Friday – Visit campus to view your assigned room, take photos and measurements, connect with key campus offices, and get all remaining housing questions answered.
  • Mid-August – Move-in time sign-ups open; instructions will be sent to students’ Rivier email accounts.

Current Student Housing Selection

Rivier’s housing lottery and room selection for the 2026-2027 academic year will take place in March and April.

Lottery System

Students are prioritized by class rank as determined by the Registrar’s Office as of February 1, 2026.

Current students receive:

  • 1 point if they have between 0-29 credit hours
  • 2 points if they have between 30-59 credit hours
  • 3 points if they have between 60-89 credit hours
  • 4 points if they have 90 or more credit hours

Current residents receive one additional priority point.

Online Selection Process

Housing selection takes place online in the MCR Housing portal.

  1. Review and sign the 2026-2027 Housing Contract in MCR Housing > Applications no later than Monday, March 16 at 8 a.m.

  2. Complete your MCR Housing profile and questionnaire.

  3. The premium space interest form is due no later than Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m.
  4. Submit a $250 housing deposit no later than Monday, March 16 at 8 a.m.

    • Go to Colleague Self-Service > Student Finance > Make a Payment > Continue to Payment Center.
    • Once redirected, select the Deposits tab.
    • Choose “Returning Stu Housing Deposit” from the dropdown.
    • Click Continue, select your payment method, and submit payment.
    • The deposit will be credited to your Fall 2025 semester bill.
    • Refund Policy: Deposit is non-refundable once a room is selected. Housing withdrawal during the semester follows the same rules as the tuition refund policy, with the exception that the first week is pro-rated as students move in before classes begin. If you change from resident to commuter status before the start of the Spring 2027 semester, the housing deposit is forfeited. Anyone who deposits and then chooses not to participate in housing selection may have their deposit refunded only if notification is received by Friday, May 1, via email at housing@rivier.edu.
  5. Create your initial roommate group in MCR Housing > My Roommates based on the first process you wish to participate in, no later than Wednesday, March 16, at 12 p.m.

  6. Watch for an email before each selection process for your assigned selection time.

  7. Log in at your assigned selection time and select a room, if available.
