FAFSA Online

We recommend that all students file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.

All students requesting financial assistance need to complete the FASFA annually for each year of attendance by the application deadline.*

Application Deadlines

Deadlines are published on the FAFSA homepage. You will need to select your state of legal residence and the school year for which you’re applying for federal student aid. All students who plan to attend Rivier University in 2024-2025 should complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA (for returning students) as soon as possible. Late applicants will be awarded on a funds-available basis.

First-Time Filing a FAFSA

If you haven’t done so, you need to create your FSA ID and password; note that dependent undergraduate students’ parents need to create their own FSA ID and password (in addition to their dependent student). Your FSA ID and password will be activated immediately if you link it with your e-mail address or mobile phone number. Otherwise, it can take up to 3 business days for your identification to be verified with the Social Security Administration. Request your FSA ID and password as soon as possible, and make note of them as you will use them each school year that you file a FAFSA.

Once you have the necessary FSA ID(s) and password(s), access and follow the step-by-step instructions for completing your FAFSA.

Already Completed a FAFSA Last Year

To renew your FAFSA, log in as a returning user. If you’re eligible for renewal, you have the option to choose between FAFSA RENEWAL and START NEW FAFSA. Use your FSA ID to access your original FAFSA, which already has your answers pre-filled using the data from the previous year. You must update any pre-filled information that has changed since last year and provide the financial information requested.

Rivier University’s Title IV Code: 002586

Include this code in your FAFSA to have your financial aid results sent to the University.

You will receive a confirmation notice from the federal government. If you have not received your confirmation within a month of filing, call Federal Student Aid, an office of the U.S. Department of Education, at 1-800-433-3243. The University cannot be held responsible for not receiving your FAFSA.

*Note: If your computer does not meet the security requirements, you can apply at the Office of Financial Aid in Adrienne Hall or in the Rivier University Computer Lab located in Sylvia Trottier Hall.
