Hands-On Experiences
Our students build resumes through practical training and internships at area businesses in the public and private sectors. Students have interned in functional business areas in accounting, marketing, management, sport management, technology, and more. Faculty strongly encourage students to pursue an internship because of the distinct advantage that applied learning provides.
Learning occurs both inside and outside the classroom. Students engage in team projects, role-playing, case studies, and various hands-on activities. They also benefit from exclusive campus events like the Nashua Sport Management Summit and the Division’s annual Pitch Contest.
At the Nashua Sport Management Summit, aspiring sport management professionals can network with industry leaders and attend panel discussions on topics such as partnerships, business analytics, recruiting, sales, event management, and communications.
The University’s annual Pitch Contest invites students from various majors, including Management, Finance, Homeland Security, and Biotechnology, to develop a viable startup idea that connects strongly with the local community. Teams present their ideas to a panel of local business leaders, and the winning team receives a comprehensive prize package, including legal, financial, marketing, and management consulting services.
The Business Student Association is a student organization that partners with the local community to give students the knowledge they need to become tomorrow’s business leaders. The group brings business leaders to speak on campus, supports initiative such as the Junior Achievement Volunteer Program, and hosts a variety of learning trips to venues throughout the region including Fenway Park, Stonyfield Farm, Foxwoods Casino, and United Parcel Service.
