Prepare for a career in law enforcement with an Applied B.S. in Criminal Justice
Criminal justice is a cornerstone of public safety, shaping how communities prevent crime, enforce laws, and uphold justice. Rivier’s Applied B.S. in Criminal Justice is a three-year, 90-credit degree program designed to give you the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in law enforcement, corrections, security, and related fields.
Maximize your return on investment when you save a full year of costs and related expenses while gaining an added year of earning income following graduation.
Unlike accelerated degrees where students graduate early by taking classes year-round, students in the three-year applied bachelor’s degree program carry a regular semester load of classes during the fall and spring semesters for a total of 90 credits over three years (six semesters) compared to 120 credits over four years (eight semesters). The 90-credit format streamlines general education requirements and focuses on the major’s essential courses and core requirements. Learn more about the three-year applied bachelor’s degree.
Rivier also offers a four-year (120 credit) bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Students enrolled in a three-year applied bachelor’s degree program may switch to the four-year bachelor’s degree program.
As a Criminal Justice major, you will experience our workforce-focused model inclusive of experiential learning and problem-solving opportunities. You will intern at a police department, a correctional facility, an agency that provides support to victims of crime or to vulnerable children, or another site, gaining the skill and experience to build your resume and launch your career in law enforcement.
With Rivier’s 3+1 program, you can earn a master’s degree in just one additional year of study. With a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in four years, you will be well positioned for early career advancement and long-term professional success.
"Our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience they need to launch successful careers in law enforcement. We’re committed to preparing graduates to make an immediate impact in their communities and beyond."
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports steady job growth for law enforcement and related criminal justice careers as communities continue to prioritize security and justice.
