New online Counseling programs expand educational access and career opportunities.

new online counseling programsIn response to the rising demand for behavioral health professionals, Rivier University has launched online master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and in School Counseling. Rivier has evolved these previously on-campus graduate programs to a more flexible, 100% online coursework, low-residency format. The new online Counseling programs expand educational access and opportunities for students and prepare graduates for licensure within their respective disciplines.

“Our programs equip the next generation of counselors to improve the lives and learning environments of the populations they serve,” says Dr. John Gleason, Dean of the Division of Education and Counseling. “Rivier’s success with online programming supported the extension of these programs to a statewide audience. Our goal is to increase the pool of qualified behavioral health counselors in New Hampshire and beyond.”

The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling prepares candidates for a variety of mental health counseling positions. The program entails two years of online coursework with two weekends on campus, followed by a one-year, 700-hour internship. Program graduates are eligible for state licensure as licensed clinical mental health counselors and are prepared for the National Clinical Mental Health Licensing Exam.

Master of Education in School Counseling graduates support the educational and emotional growth and well-being of students who struggle with the present social, emotional, and educational challenges. The program requires two years of online coursework with two weekends on campus, followed by a one-year, 600-hour internship. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible for licensure in school counseling by the New Hampshire Education Department.

Rivier University offers a range of on-campus and online degree programs from the associate to the doctoral level. In 2023, Rivier’s online programs earned the University the #1 ranking for Best Online College in New Hampshire by Intelligent.com based on their examination of tuition fees, credit requirements, and the available formats for coursework of top schools in the state.
