Rivier University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program now 100% online, expanding access for working nurses

Rivier MSN Alumni receive first DNP course free when they enroll for January 2027

Rivier University is now offering its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program 100% online, providing greater flexibility for working nurses seeking to advance their education, expand their leadership impact, and improve healthcare outcomes while continuing their careers.

The program can be completed in as little as two years or at a part-time pace. Prospective students can apply now and start in January 2027. Alumni of Rivier’s Master of Science in Nursing programs will receive their first DNP course at no cost when they apply and enroll for January 2027.

“We are proud of the exceptional nurses who have earned their MSN degrees at Rivier,” says Dr. Paula Williams, Dean of the Division of Nursing and Health Professions and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “By offering the first DNP course at no cost to these graduates, we are investing in their continued growth as nurse leaders and helping them advance their careers while expanding their impact on patients, organizations, and the communities they serve.”

Rivier’s DNP program is affordably priced, and employees of participating healthcare partner organizations may qualify for tuition discounts through Rivier’s Strategic Partners Program. Through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP), eligible students preparing for nurse educator roles may qualify for loan forgiveness of up to 85% in exchange for serving as full-time nursing faculty or precepting graduate nursing students after graduation.

The DNP equips graduates with the leadership, strategic decision-making, and systems-thinking skills needed to improve healthcare outcomes, drive innovation, and assume advanced leadership positions across the healthcare continuum. As demand for highly educated nurse leaders continues to grow, graduates are prepared to pursue leadership roles that offer greater responsibility, influence, and earning potential.

Applications are now being accepted for the January 19, 2027 cohort. With a fully online format, flexible pacing, and coursework designed for working nurses, Rivier’s DNP prepares working nurses for their next level of professional success.
