Rivier University announces new graduate degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence
Rivier University has launched a Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence degree program, designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals who can lead, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions across many industries.
The program combines cutting-edge technical training with a strong foundation in ethics, critical thinking, and industry-specific application. Students will gain hands-on experience with machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and data analytics while exploring the societal and organizational impacts of AI.
In addition to the master’s degree, Rivier recently launched a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence. Both programs will be offered on campus beginning in Fall 2025.
“Artificial intelligence is reshaping how the world works,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, President. “Our new AI programs reflect our mission of transforming hearts and minds to serve the world, ensuring that the next generation of innovators is both highly skilled and ethically grounded.”
Designed for working professionals and recent graduates alike, the on-campus program offers flexible coursework that emphasizes real-world problem solving, applied research, and team-based collaboration. Graduates will be prepared to pursue roles such as AI engineer, machine learning specialist, data scientist, or AI project manager in fields ranging from healthcare and finance to cybersecurity and education.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for computer and information research scientists is projected to grow by 26 percent from 2023 to 2033, significantly faster than the average for all occupations. In response to the increasing demand for prepared professionals for today’s high-tech landscape, Rivier recently expanded its academic offerings to include an MBA in Cybersecurity Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
“Rivier’s programs in AI are uniquely positioned to address both the power and the responsibility of artificial intelligence,” says Dr. Paula Williams, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Nursing and Health Professions. “Students will not only master advanced AI techniques but also learn to apply them in ways that drive innovation while honoring ethical and societal considerations.”
The Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 semester.
