Rivier Expands Board of Trustees with Expertise in Literary and Security Sciences

“The University welcomes Mr. Daniel Sauvageau and Dr. Reginald Wilburn to its Board of Trustees,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier’s president.

“Their unique knowledge augments the depth and breadth of our leadership team, informing and aiding the University in this critical period of expansion.”

Safeguarding data and personnel for Fidelity Investments, Sauvageau serves as Chief Security Officer and is responsible for a team of more than 300 security professionals performing operations, investigations, due diligence, and background vetting functions for the company’s businesses across North America, Europe, and Asia. He is a Certified Protection Professional with the American Society of Industrial Security, a member of the International Security Management Association, and a member of The Conference Board’s Security Executive Council. Dedicated to educating the next generation of security specialists, Sauvageau also serves as a member of Rivier’s Security Studies Advisory Council. Sauvageau is an alumnus; he earned his MBA from Rivier in 1995.

Dr. Wilburn is an associate professor of English, specializing in African American literature and culture, the poet Milton, and intertexuality studies; he teaches the art of critical thinking, reading, and writing through the science of literary study. Wilburn educates and mentors University of New Hampshire (UNH) students and is the recipient of two UNH teaching awards. A published author, currently he is readying several new manuscripts for publication. Prior to his career in higher education, Dr. Wilburn served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Dr. Wilburn and Sauvageau join the Board of Trustees at a pivotal time in the University’s history—as it prepares to break ground on a 30,000-square-foot Science and Innovation Center through its Vision 2020 strategic plan. The new facility will provide state-of-the-art experiences for biology, biotechnology, nursing, and public health majors, while enhancing the general education for all Rivier students. In fall 2019, the University is launching a new undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity Management. The curriculum focuses on cybersecurity management, business, computer science, and homeland and international security.

With 2,300 students at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels, and academic programs serving both on-campus and online populations, Rivier’s Board of Trustees provides strategic direction in advancing the University’s core mission of transforming hearts and minds to serve the world.
