Rivier’s first Project Advance full nursing scholarship recipients earn their RN degrees

Rivier’s first Project Advance full nursing scholarship recipients earn their RN degrees.

Through the vision and generosity of an anonymous Rivier University donor, nine local licensed practical nurses (LPNs) have achieved their dream of a college education and preparation for registered nurse (RN) licensure.

Rivier made a major investment in New Hampshire’s nursing workforce by awarding Project Advance scholarships to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) employed at Catholic Charities New Hampshire rehabilitation and long-term care nursing centers. Project Advance enabled scholarship recipients to earn an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree, a prerequisite to licensure as a registered nurse, without financial burden.

“Our benefactor’s $600,000 gift for Project Advance provides full tuition, books, and fees for LPN employees of Catholic Charities New Hampshire,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier’s President. “We are proud to celebrate our first scholarship recipients who have completed their associate degrees and will go on to proudly write the letters ‘RN’ after their name.”

Project Advance nursing students have demonstrated a commitment to the nursing profession and the capacity to achieve the next level of practice within their chosen field. These students received their diplomas at the University’s 86th Commencement on May 17, 2021.

Project Advance students have worked incredibly hard to achieve their dreams, all while caring for patients in skilled nursing facilities during an unprecedented public health crisis,” shares Dr. Paula Williams, Dean of Rivier’s Division of Nursing and Health Professions. “Their determination and perseverance are an inspiration, and we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments during this year’s Commencement ceremony.”

The University awarded more than 607 degrees to associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree graduates at the 2021 Commencement ceremony.  Rivier University, located in Nashua, New Hampshire, offers degrees at the Undergraduate, Professional Studies, Graduate, and Doctoral levels with on-campus and online options.
