Amy Schmidt

Background

Professor Amy Schmidt brings more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry to the classroom. She began her teaching experience as an undergraduate at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she taught anatomy laboratory and gained extensive experience with human cadaver dissection while completing her B.S. in Biology.

After graduation, Professor Schmidt transitioned into the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, building a career in analytical research and development. Her work included analytical method development, validation and transfer, clinical testing, and the characterization of biologic therapeutics, including monoclonal antibodies and vaccines. She later earned her M.S. in Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Professor Schmidt draws on both her academic and industry experience in teaching anatomy and physiology, with an emphasis on helping students connect anatomical structures and physiological processes to real-world applications in health, science, and medicine.
