Rivier University named top nursing school in New Hampshire, among the best in United States

Following a comprehensive evaluation of U.S. nursing schools for 2024, Nursing Schools Almanac ranked Rivier University as the #1 Nursing School in New Hampshire and #10 in New England. Rivier also ranks #47 nationwide among private nursing schools.

“Our nursing faculty have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in nursing education that is reflected in these rankings,” said Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier’s President. “Rivier students receive a transformational educational experience at Rivier that equips them to make a profound impact in their communities.”

Rivier is home to a recently renovated Nursing Simulation and Clinical Education Center for hands-on learning and high-tech simulation for nurses and nurse practitioners. Opened in 2022, the state-of-the-art skills and simulation labs offer the newest technology for clinical assessment, community nursing, and telehealth simulation.

“Our state-of-the-art facilities allow our students to develop their clinical skills under the direction of our talented faculty,” said Dr. Paula Williams, Dean of the Division of Nursing and Health Professions. “The rankings are a reflection of our ability to prepare nurses to enter the workforce, addressing the existing shortage of healthcare workers in the United States.”

Nursing Schools Almanac assessed 3,000 schools on three critical dimensions: academic prestige and perceived value, breadth and depth of nursing programs offered, and student success, particularly on the NCLEX licensure examination. Rivier Bachelor of Science in Nursing students achieved an NCLEX first-time pass rate of 92.5% in 2022, far exceeding the national average of 79.9%.

Additionally, Rivier’s online RN to BSN program was selected as the best in New Hampshire, according to RegisteredNursing.org. Intelligent.com has ranked Rivier’s MBA in Healthcare Management and MSN: Family Nurse Practitioner programs within the top-14 nationally.

The RegisteredNursing.org rankings are based on data provided by the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE), and the Council for Community and Economic Research. Utilizing the data gathered, colleges and universities are ranked using a seven-factor point system that evaluates acceptance and graduation rates, nursing faculty tenure, tuition and fees versus cost of living, and other considerations.

The Intelligent.com research team reviewed dozens of programs on the basis of cost, rankings, faculty, and retention and graduation rates, and found Rivier’s MBA in Healthcare Management and it’s MSN: Family Nurse Practitioner offerings to be among the highest quality programs in the country.

Rivier offers on-campus and online ACEN-accredited nursing degrees from the associate to the doctoral level. For complete information, view the University’s expansive nursing program offerings.
