Alumni on the Front Lines | Amanda Whynott

Surgical nurse Amanda Whynott ’12 says helping people is what she was made to do.

Alumna Amanda Whynott graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and currently works in medical surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts. She told us, “Despite this pandemic, I wouldn’t trade my career for the world. I love being a nurse and I love what I do. Helping people, despite the situation, is what I was made to do.”

We first learned about Amanda’s work on the front line from her sister, Kristen Peterson ’17, who graduated from Rivier with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and now works as a Compliance and Technical Support Team Lead at Reliable Respiratory. She reached out to us after seeing our stories about River alumni serving their communities. “I want to give a shout out to my older sister Amanda Whynott ’12,” Kristen wrote. “She works on a floor where every day and night, each nurse has confirmed COVID-19 patients. Amanda is a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. We all couldn’t be more proud of her.”

Thank you for everything you are doing today and always, Amanda!
