Shanna Demers
Background
Professor Shanna Demers teaches courses in general biology, ecology, and environmental science. Her teaching is fueled by a passion for igniting curiosity and rekindling a sense of wonder about the natural world. She treats the outdoors as an extension of her classroom, seizing every opportunity to bring students into campus spaces and nearby natural areas to experience living organisms up close.
Professor Demers is also the faculty advisor of the Rivier Biology Club, an interdisciplinary club that is focused on service, stewardship, and exploring the natural world. Not limited to biology or biotechnology majors, current club members also include psychology, applied exercise science, criminal justice, cybersecurity management, health science, business management, computer science, elementary education, and nursing.
