Fatma Salem, Ph.D.
Background
Dr. Salem graduated with high honors at the top of her class across all of her degree programs; earning a Bachelor’s in Applied Behavioral Science, a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, all with distinction.
Throughout her graduate training, she was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), the international honor society for counseling, and maintained active membership as a commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service within the counseling profession. In recognition of her academic excellence and professional contributions, she received the Distinguished Scholar Award as well as CSI chapter honors, distinctions that reflect her dedication to advancing the counseling field and her continued engagement in professional development.
Dr. Salem has been actively engaged with the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), serving as the Graduate Student Representative from 2021–2023 and currently as Secretary of the North Atlantic Region of ACES (2024–2026). Her leadership and scholarship have centered on advancing the counseling profession with specific attention to issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
She is the author of a published book chapter on online counselor education, and her dissertation, also published, explored creating connections in online counselor education. In addition, Dr. Salem has delivered numerous presentations at the local, national, and international levels, addressing mental health, counselor education, and a wide range of professional and societal topics.
Additionally, Dr. Salem is a dually licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor serving a variety of clients in NH and MA. Her areas of expertise include trauma and stressor related disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, couples’ counseling, and anxiety disorders. Dr. Salem is also passionate about working with other clinicians and supporting them through experiences of burnout, cPTSD, and work-related anxiety.
