Background

Administrative & Service
Before joining the Rivier University community, Dr. Anil B. Waghe served for two decades as a tenured full professor and Chair of the Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Forensic Science programs at Plymouth State University. He founded and chaired the university’s Forensic Science program, playing a pivotal role in curriculum development, student recruitment, and retention.

Dr. Waghe served on the Promotion, Tenure, and Evaluation Advisory Group, delivering numerous workshops on scholarship and updated evaluation criteria. He was an elected member of several faculty committees, including the Curriculum Committee and Faculty Welfare Committee, and contributed to program assessment and NECHE accreditation reporting.

As founder and faculty advisor of the American Chemical Society (ACS) student chapter, he actively engaged students in co-curricular activities. His outreach initiatives fostered strong partnerships with regional high schools through workshops and hands-on activities.

Teaching
Dr. Waghe has extensive experience teaching a broad range of courses—from introductory to capstone level—across general education, internships, and seminars. He has successfully taught in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats, integrating innovative technology to enhance student learning.

His dedication to teaching excellence has been consistently reflected in outstanding student evaluations. Plymouth State University honored his work with its highest teaching recognition, the Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award (2023). He also received three Outstanding Teaching Awards from the University of Maine.

Scholarship
At Plymouth State University, Dr. Waghe mentored more than 25 undergraduate research projects, many of which were presented at national and local conferences. His diverse research interests span:
