Rivier Oral History Project

With the year-long celebration of Rivier’s 90th anniversary in 2022-2023, it was the perfect time to preserve your stories in a keepsake book that celebrates the impact Rivier has had on the lives of our alumni and who you are today.

Project Update – June 2023

The Oral History Project commemorative book, celebrating Rivier’s 90th anniversary, has shipped! This one-of-a-kind publication contains hundreds of stories of our alumni. Thank you to the more than 3,000 alumni who called in and participated in the project over the last year. If you purchased a book, you should be receiving yours soon.

Project Update – Oct. 26, 2022

The communication period to verify your information and contribute a story concluded Friday, October 21. PCI is now creating the special commemorative book that will hold hundreds of stories of Rivier alumni. Thank you to the more than 3,000 alumni who called in and participated in the project. If your story was selected to be included in the keepsake book, PCI has sent you an email with instructions on how to view it. Those who wish to review their story and audio file before the publication is produced have until Friday, October 28 to do so. We anticipate the commemorative book and anniversary items shipping this spring.

PCI Partnership

A project of this size requires a significant investment of time and resources. That’s why we have partnered with Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI). We will be able to access their team of trained staff who are excited to listen to what you have to share. PCI will collect and assemble the stories into a printed book and digital collection that will be available for alumni to purchase.

The Project

Starting the last week in April, alumni will begin receiving email and postcard communications on Rivier’s behalf with instructions on how to participate in the project. You will be invited to call in to verify your alumni information and to share a story of your Rivier experience. The year-long project will culminate next spring with the publishing of a special keepsake book filled with stories of Rivier alumni through the years. All purchases of the book and other commemorative items directly through PCI will fund this important initiative. You do not have to purchase the book or any items through PCI to participate in the project.

Please note: We have only provided alumni contact information with PCI for the use of this Rivier Oral History Project only. We have NOT sold your contact information or provided it to any external group for any other purpose.

Updating Your Information

As part of this project, we are also taking this opportunity to help make it easier for you to stay connected to Rivier. We will collect updated contact information from those of you who may have moved and inadvertently lost touch with your alma mater.

Do I Have to Buy Something?

No. This project is being done at NO COST to Rivier University. The project is completely funded by the alumni who choose to purchase the print book and other commemorative items directly by PCI. You are invited to purchase these items from PCI, but you are not required to purchase anything to participate in the project. Your purchase is not a donation to the University and is not tax deductible. We’d never be able to embark on a project like this without the support of our amazing alumni and the partnership with PCI. We sincerely thank every person that participates and chooses to purchase a book.
