Altiora et Meliora: Our University’s Latin motto translates to “higher and better,” and it’s what we strive for every day. Rivier’s Vision 2020 set a course for an innovative future as the University strives to reach higher and better while providing a distinctive educational experience that uniquely prepares students for career success.
Science and Innovation Center
At the heart of Vision 2020 is a Science and Innovation Center truly worthy of the teaching and learning that takes place inside. Through a commitment to expanding innovation in the sciences, the University envisioned a new facility that will provide state-of-the-art experiences for biology, biotechnology, nursing, and public health majors, while enhancing general education for all Rivier students.
The Science and Innovation Center will serve as a beacon for the city of Nashua and beyond, providing community resources for the pursuit of scientific discovery. Inclusive of microbiology, biotechnology, anatomy and physiology, genetics, organic and inorganic chemistry, physics, and environmental science, the 30,000 square-foot facility will be situated at the crossroads of South Main and Clement Streets, the most visible and heavily traveled area of campus. The University broke ground on the facility in April 2019 and anticipates its official opening in fall 2020.
Athletics Pavilion and Raider Diamond
The University broke ground on construction of an Athletics Pavilion and renovation of Raider Diamond in October 2018.
The new facility and enhancements will turn our turfed field into a stadium, having a transformational impact on the game-day experience for athletes and fans. The Pavilion will provide stadium seating, team rooms, conference space for pre- and post-game gatherings, a training room, locker rooms, and a press box with an enhanced sound system. A renovation of the existing softball field will complete the outdoor facilities, adding stadium seating, a press box, team dugouts, and field lighting for nighttime play.
The Naming of Joanne Merrill Field
In February 2019, the Rivier University Board of Trustees passed a resolution to name Raider Field the “Joanne Merrill Field” in recognition of her 40 years of service as Director of Athletics. The distinction honors Merrill for creating an athletic environment of integrity, service, and leadership for both coaches and student-athletes. Read the full press release.
