We are committed to solving real-world problems and expanding the workforce of our region and beyond by educating students who will change lives.
Vision 2020 Projects
Our Vision 2020 projects are under construction and will have a transformational impact on the University and the community for decades to come.
Innovation in the Sciences
At the heart of Vision 2020 is a Science and Innovation Center truly worthy of the teaching and learning that takes place inside. The University community celebrated the groundbreaking of this 35,000 square-foot facility in April 2019 and construction will be completed in 2020.
The new Center will encompass:
- Learning spaces that foster innovation and discovery
- Laboratories and equipment designed to solve real-world problems
- Technology that brings the world of science into the classroom
- Collaborative spaces for faculty and student research
Transforming the Game-Day Experience
Linda Robinson Pavilion
The construction of an Athletics Pavilion will turn the University’s athletics field into a stadium, having a transformational impact on the game-day experience for Raider athletes and fans. The Pavilion will provide stadium seating, team rooms, and conference space for pre-and post-game gatherings, a training room, lockers rooms, and a press box with an enhanced sound system.
The Naming of Joanne Merrill Field
The University’s Board of Trustees passed a resolution to name Raider Field the Joanne Merrill Field, honoring the 40 year career of the University’s Director of Athletics. The distinction recognizes Merrill for creating an athletic environment of integrity, service, and leadership for both coaches and student-athletes, while also contributing to the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
A renovation of the existing softball filed will complete the outdoor facilities, adding stadium seating, a press box, team dugouts, and field lighting for nighttime play.
Construction of the Athletics Pavilion and Raider Diamond will be completed for the opening of the fall 2019 semester.
