Housing Lottery and Room Selection

Rivier's housing lottery and room selection take place in late March/early April. Returning students have the opportunity to secure their room of choice for the following year.

Room Lottery Information

Students are prioritized by class rank as determined by the Registrar’s Office.

Current residents receive:

  • 1 point if they have between 0-29 credit hours = Priority IV
  • 2 points if they have between 30-59 credit hours = Priority III
  • 3 points if they have between 60-89 credit hours = Priority II
  • 4 points if they have 90 or more credit hours = Priority I

Current commuter students may participate in the lottery but will not receive any points.

Brassard Hall and Presentation Hall will be numbered based on a full suite. Total points will determine the order; a lottery will be conducted for those apartments who have the same number of points to determine priority.

Rivier Village will be numbered based on a full apartment. Total points will determine the order; a lottery will be conducted for those apartments that have the same number of points to determine priority.

Guild Hall and Trinity Hall will be randomly assigned lottery numbers based on points; All those with 4 points will be assigned numbers in Priority I; then those with 3 points and so on, until all students with paid deposits have received a lottery number.

Presentation Hall:

  1. Pay a $250 Room and Tuition Deposit to the Office of Student Accounts.
  2. Complete a housing application via electronic link by the advertised deadline.
  3. Attend housing selection according to the lottery numbers emailed in advance.

Brassard Hall:

  1. Pay a $250 Room and Tuition Deposit to the Office of Student Accounts.
  2. Complete a housing application via electronic link by the advertised deadline.
  3. Attend housing selection according to the lottery numbers emailed in advance.
  4. Look for the lottery numbers which will be emailed to suite captains.

Rivier Village

  1. Pay a $250 Room and Tuition Deposit to the Office of Student Accounts.
  2. Complete a housing application via electronic link by the advertised deadline.
  3. Attend housing selection according to the lottery numbers emailed in advance.

Trinity Hall and Guild Hall:

  1. Pay a $250 Room and Tuition Deposit to the Office of Student Accounts.
  2. Look for the lottery numbers to be posted in Guild Hall.
  3. Attend Room Selection with your roommate(s).

Housing Information

ALL rooms will be used according to occupancy.

  • Guild Hall. Rooms 142, 201, 225, 242, 301, 325, 342 are triples; all other rooms are doubles
  • Trinity Hall: Rooms 101 and 103 are SINGLES; 203 is a triple; rooms 200 and 300 will be used as quads
  • Presentation Hall: QUADS are given first priority; triples second priority; doubles/singles fill as possible.
  • Brassard Hall: First priority is to 11 residents.

Notes:

* If your $250 room deposit isn’t received by the deadline, and/or you’re not cleared by the Office of Student Accounts, you’ll be placed on a housing waitlist until August 1.

* Designated buy out singles will not be available at the time for room selections. Students may sign a waiting list during their turn at selection night.

* Students with roommate choices will be able to select rooms according to the lottery number list. Students without roommate choices will be placed in rooms as space permits after all those with roommates have selected.
