The Counseling Process

The decision to begin counseling is an important one. Counselors can help you explore your feelings, thoughts, and concerns, and support you as you work to achieve your desired goals.

The first counseling session is designed to obtain relevant background information and to identify the specific concerns that led you to seek counseling. At the conclusion of the session, the counselor will discuss appropriate resources and recommendations to assist in resolving concerns.

Common Concerns

The following are examples of common concerns college students seek counseling for:

  • Stress and test anxiety
  • Roommate problems
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Homesickness
  • Alcohol and/or substance issues
  • Relationship problems
  • Eating disorders
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Family problems
  • Death of a family member or friend

Whether or not your individual concerns are listed above, you are always welcome to meet with a counselor to address any challenges you are facing.

Wellness Program

Throughout the year, we facilitate a range of workshops and wellness events that promote physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual health. These events include group yoga, test anxiety workshops, therapy dog visits, and many more.
