Dan Sauvageau '95G recognizes that the Master’s of Business Administration Program at Rivier has provided him the relevant training he needs to be successful in the financial services industry. “I really valued the graduate experience,” he says. “The work we did closely emulated real-world financial issues in business.”
Sauvageau’s M.B.A. coursework was infused with lessons in skills important to business professionals—problem solving, conflict resolution, and establishing goals in a team-oriented environment. “We were learning how to deal with things exactly as they were happening in real life,” he says.
Throughout his career, Sauvageau has implemented the valuable training he received as a graduate student in his professional practices. He held a supervisory role at Sanders Lockheed (what is today BAE Systems), and after graduating from Rivier, he left the defense contracting industry to pursue a security career in the financial sector. Sauvageau has been working at Fidelity Investments for the last 21 years in the company’s corporate security department. He has created, managed, and led security programs and teams throughout North America, parts of Latin America, and India. Today, as Senior Vice President of Security Operations, Sauvageau leads a team of more than 200 employees who are responsible for providing a variety of security, safety, and risk related services to Fidelity’s 38,000 employees in the United States and around the world.
For Sauvageau, Rivier has played a vital part in his career success. “The graduate school experience is about applying what you learn in class to real life situations,” he says. “Rivier’s M.B.A. program was a natural fit for me because it translated so well into my career.”
