ACBSP Accredits Rivier University Business Programs

Rivier's undergraduate business programs in business administration, business management, finance, and marketing, as well as the University’s Master of Business Administration programs, have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

“Accreditation by the ACBSP affirms the quality of our business programs,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, President. “In the U.S. alone, there are 4,300 colleges and universities. ACBSP accredits business programs at fewer than 1,200 campuses across 60 countries. This is a remarkable distinction earned by the Dean and faculty of the business division. Of course, the beneficiaries of the accreditation are students who can pursue their Rivier business degree with confidence and pride.”

Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.

“Rivier University has shown a commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2019 in Houston, Texas, on June 23. “This accreditation is evidence that Rivier is committed to providing the highest quality business education for its students.”

Celebrating 30 years of excellence in business program accreditation around the globe, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs offered through Rivier University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“We are honored to receive this highly sought-after accreditation,” says Dr. Amir Toosi, Dean of the Division of Business. “It affirms the quality of a Rivier education in a very public way and is a tribute to the expertise of the faculty and the strength of our Business curriculum, which is always evolving to meet the workforce needs of the 21st century.”

Rivier offers a range of business degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels focused on experiential learning and leadership. Two new programs—a B.S. in Cybersecurity Management and a B.S. in Sport Management—are set to launch this fall. ACBSP accreditation supports Rivier University’s Employment Promise Program, which promises students who complete the program that they will secure a full-time job within nine months of graduation. If they do not, they will receive additional financial or educational support from the University.
