Study Abroad

Study Abroad Opportunities:

The Office of Global Engagement encourages all Rivier University students to consider a semester or year abroad.  All of the study abroad options we offer are based on written agreements with Fairfield University (Ireland, Nicaragua, Tanzania, Italy, France, Australia, and Spain). Fairfield University’s study abroad opportunities are available here http://www.fairfield.edu/sa/index.html.

The OGE is proud to announce a new partnership with Education First.  Learn more about their language programs abroad by visiting http://www.ef.edu/rivieruniversity.  You can also test your language skills to see which program is right for you: http://www.ef.edu/rivieruniversitylanguagetest

Other Study Abroad Providers:

Students are welcome to choose their programs and destinations through any of the study abroad providers below.

API
API was founded in 1997 by four women dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable study abroad programs for U.S. students. Their diverse experiences abroad, first as students and later as professionals, shaped their philosophy on the value of international education as a means of promoting intellectual curiosity, cultural sensitivity and holistic personal development. API firmly believes that extensive pre-departure preparation, coupled with strong support services on-site, facilitates academic, cultural and linguistic learning. Within the supportive environment of the API programs, API students are encouraged to explore their host communities and become increasingly independent and confident in their own abilities. API also believes that study abroad should be an activity that is accessible to as many students as possible, and in that vein, seeks to include as many components in the program price as possible for students at a low cost.

CIEE
For nearly 70 years, CIEE has been the nation's leader in producing high-quality international study abroad and exchange programs. A non-profit, non-governmental international exchange organization, we help to set – and raise – the standards of international education. We are committed to leading by example – to providing quality, rigorous study abroad opportunities for our nation's students not merely through the creation of guiding principles, but through concrete action, meticulous attention to detail, and employment of experts in the field.

Fairfield University
Fairfield University is a Jesuit, Catholic university in mission and spirit. Our objectives include promoting a sense of social responsibility, and making sure all students embrace and develop their full creative, intellectual potential.

We provide a liberal arts education that is both broad and deep, believing that in order to better the world, you first have to understand it from a staggering number of viewpoints. We believe that each and every student is a capable individual with infinite potential, and we embrace the opportunity to turn strengths into careers. As a student at Fairfield, you'll do this through reflection, gaining and evaluating knowledge, and identifying and understanding social issues.

Fairfield University was founded in 1942, and has since awarded over 45,000 degrees. Each degree represents a different jumping off point - a student who has embraced his or her capabilities and taken them out into the world.

ISL
ISL is an international educational non-governmental organization (NGO). Since 1994, we have offered medical, educational, and community enrichment volunteer programs to
high school and university students, post-graduates and professionals from hundreds of institutions, both nationally and internationally. ISL has been serving developing communities since 1994. We work with accredited universities and under the direction of local health ministries. Students are only involved to the extent that these officials approve.
