Rivier’s art courses are a vital component of the University’s curriculum and help students develop their awareness of the creative process. Faculty are both accomplished artists and effective teachers, and students benefit from the University’s extensive resources in art; including a distinctive library collection and the Art Gallery at Rivier University. The latter showcases accomplished artists with four to five exhibitions a year. Gallery talks plus other guest presentations and discussions further complement Rivier’s academic offerings and the University’s Artist in Residence program. Furthermore, there are opportunities for travel to museums and other noteworthy arts venues.

Rivier University is recognized for its Digital Imaging Studio, a state-of-the-art Macintosh facility with industry-standard software tools plus scanning and wide-format printing equipment. A variety of visual arts courses are regularly taught in the studio.
