Vice President for Academic Affairs

Rivier University (, a Catholic University located in Nashua, New Hampshire 40 minutes north of Boston, is accepting nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs. With a total headcount of 2,200 students including 800 graduate students, the University has a strong tradition of liberal education and professional programs. The University offers more than 70 degree programs including three doctoral programs. The VPAA will be joining an engaged faculty and campus community committed to Vision 2020 with its emphasis on innovation in the sciences, technology and learning and philanthropy and partnerships. Rivier will open a new 36,000 square foot Science and Innovation Center in fall 2020. The VPAA will be expected to start in July 2020.

Reporting to the President and a valued member of the President’s Cabinet, the VPAA serves as the chief academic officer responsible for all academic programs, personnel, and policies at the University.

The successful candidate must possess an earned doctorate, teaching and administrative experience at the dean level or above. In addition, the candidate must possess a broad knowledge of accreditation standards and academic program development which builds on the University’s on-ground and online enrollment strengths. Learning assessment strategies, retention initiatives and the application of instructional technology are included in the VPAA portfolio. The candidate must value the Catholic mission and vision of the University and welcome diversity and inclusion as demonstrated through a record of collaborative leadership. The successful candidate will have superior communication skills and build on Rivier’s record of success as marked by the core curriculum, global engagement, the University’s Employment Promise Program, and strength of its adult learner population.
