Director of Public Safety and Security
Rivier University seeks to hire a full-time Director of Public Safety & Security to provide leadership for the overall administration and management of the Department of Public Safety & Security. The Director of Public Safety & Security serves as the primary resource and advisor to the University on matters related to campus safety.
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, this position responsible for the comprehensive operations of Rivier University’s Public Safety Department in Nashua, NH. This position provides administrative and operational guidance for a 24-hour/365 days a year department, including direction and supervision of officers, patrol, and dispatch personnel. The department currently consists of 10 full-time and part-time officers.
The successful candidate must possess an earned Associate’s degree in criminal justice, business administration, or in a related field. An appropriate combination of equitable education and experience will also be considered. In addition, the candidate must possess a minimum of four years of full-time work experience in law enforcement work, three years of which must be in a supervisory capacity. The candidate must have managerial and practical experience leading a 24/7, 365-day environment. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organization and commination skills with strong public safety and presentation skills. The candidate must value the Catholic mission and vision of the University and welcome diversity and inclusion as demonstrated through a record of addressing the needs and interests of diverse populations and demonstrated ability to build relationships on campus and in community. The candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of Uniform Crime Report definitions and understanding of, and appreciation for current student issues with demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations.
This is a full-time, exempt level, benefit-eligible position. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and requires occasional evening and/or weekend event work. Occasional travel may be required.
