Rivier University seeks a full-time, Admissions Counselor to actively recruit prospective students using a variety of methods, interview applicants, review applications, and participate in various recruitment-related special events. Admissions recruitment, counseling, outreach and application review are all significant functions of this position.
The Admissions Counselor represents the University both on-and off-campus within a designated geographic area to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. The candidate will plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories within New England. The Admission Counselor will attend college fairs, conduct school counselor visits, and develop useful professional contacts. The applicant must possess the ability to carry out extensive telephone outreach (“telecounseling/telemarketing”) with prospective students for recruiting purposes; document all telephone contacts in the computer system.
The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree with one or more years of admissions counseling and outreach experience preferred, or equivalent. The applicant must have the ability to travel extensively during the recruiting season and to load and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment. Some evening and weekend hours required, especially during the fall and spring travel seasons. The candidate possesses strong skills in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and Word. Basic familiarity with social media applications a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
