Men’s Dorm Head for Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound Summer Academy. June 12th to Aug 31st. Provide leadership and structure for 45 young men. Set and enforce high expectations. Create safe, nurturing, environment for college bound youth. Model scholarly behavior. Supervise college interns and lead activities or teach a class. College degree, experience supervising youth in a residential setting preferred, commitment to social justice approaches, great organization and communication skills, mediation skills helpful. Room and board and salary.($3000 to $4500 depending on ability to teach needed classes)
Summer Academy Faculty: Experienced high school writing and math teachers for Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound. Prepare college bound youth for their rigorous fall classes. 6/21 -7/31. Math teacher must teach one or more of these: Precalculus, geometry and statistics. College degree, experience teaching math or English to high school students. Passion for social justice in education. Strong teaching references. ($2000- $3500 depending on number of sections). Room and board possible for non local staff.
The Upward Bound Program at Northfield Mount Hermon is a federally funded (Department of Education) initiative designed to provide low-income students with the skills and motivation needed to succeed in high school and college. College bound youth live and learn on the Mount Hermon campus in the summer and receive intensive year round services in their home communities. Rigorous academic, cultural and social programming increase academic success and college readiness.
