Recognizing Alumni Achievement

Sister Madeleine of Jesus Award
The Sister Madeleine of Jesus Award, the University’s highest alumni honor, was established by the Alumni Association in 1974 to honor Rivier’s Foundress. The award is presented to a Rivier alumna or alumnus who has distinguished herself or himself through:
• Exceptional dedication and contribution to Rivier University
• Outstanding service to his or her community and profession
• Significant civic, professional, or humanitarian efforts

Alumni Achievement Awards
The following awards are presented to outstanding alumni who have utilized their Rivier education to make a difference in their profession and have maintained a continued connection with their alma mater.

Outstanding Educator Award
This award recognizes a Rivier graduate working in the field of education who has demonstrated a commitment to teaching excellence and distinguished himself/herself by fostering an exceptional educational environment as a classroom teacher, counselor, administrator, or education advocate.

Outstanding Nurse/Healthcare Professional Award
This award recognizes a Rivier graduate working as a nurse or as a healthcare professional in a hospital, medical care facility, doctor’s office, lab, or other healthcare setting or within the field of public health. This individual demonstrates a commitment to excellence and service to patients, as well as professional achievement in the healthcare profession.

Outstanding Business Professional/Community Leader Award
This award recognizes a Rivier graduate who has distinguished himself or herself as a business or community leader at a for-profit business, a not-for-profit organization, or through a community or civic position. The individual demonstrates a commitment to ethics in the workplace and a commitment to excellence demonstrated by achievement within his/her profession or industry.

Outstanding Young Alumni Award
This award recognizes a Rivier alumna(us) who graduated within the last ten years and has distinguished themselves as a young professional within their profession or their community. This award recognizes the individual’s personal and professional achievements since their Rivier graduation.

Use the Alumni Achievement Award nomination form to nominate an individual for one of these awards.

Please submit nomination forms for all awards by May 31. Awards are presented at Alumni Reunion Weekend in September. Recipients must be available to receive the award in person at the Alumni Dinner on Saturday evening.
