Goal: To provide all necessary assistance to help all international students succeed during their studies at Rivier University. This assistance includes comprehensive pre-arrival advising, orientation and continuous guidance in personal, social, cultural, and immigration matters.
The Director of Global Engagement and her team provides, immigration advising pertaining to
F-1 students to make sure they will maintain legal status and apply for their employment benefits in a timely manner. Services such as searching for accommodation, application for social security numbers, drivers’ licenses, filing income tax, and traveling outside the United States as well as re-entry. The ISS office provides immigration updates coming from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS), Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the National Association of International Advisors (NAFSA).
The Office of Global Engagement promotes cultural awareness and global engagement on campus. Cultural programs such as Diwali, Holi and Chinese New Year are some of the many exciting events on campus. The office also encourages students to build a relationship within the community by way of participating in the Global Friendship Mentoring program and F-1 Circle: What’s Up!. The Indian Student Association of Rivier University (ISARU), is an active on-campus student association which celebrates Indian cultural traditions. Rivier University also celebrates the Moon Festival and the Chinese New Year under the leadership of the Rivier University Chinese Student Association (RUCSA).
