Department of Philosophy

In the long-standing tradition of Catholic liberal arts education, the study of philosophy has always been regarded as central to the formation of the truly educated person.

Philosophy is a component of Rivier’s liberal arts core curriculum, Journeys of Transformation. One philosophy course is generally taken during the junior or senior year and focuses on the intersection of morality, reason, and justice. Additional courses invite students to participate in the philosophical quest for the purpose of human life, the essence of good community, and the ultimate nature of things.

Guided by a journey of self-awareness and discovery, the undergraduate Core Curriculum lays the foundation for success as you embark on your academic journey at Rivier.
