Welcome to Rivier University! The Office of Academic Advising looks forward to working with you as you pursue your undergraduate degree at Rivier. One of our primary roles is to advise and register students for their courses each semester.
All undergraduate day students are assigned an Academic Advisor who will work with the student one-on-one to devise an educational plan that will meet their academic needs.
The information below highlights what you will need to know regarding the registration process as a new first year or transfer student:
Registration Procedure for Newly Accepted First Year and Transfer Students
First Year Students
If you are attending June Orientation: If you are planning to attend one of our June Orientations, you will automatically be registered for your fall courses by the Office of Academic Advising and receive your schedule before you leave Orientation. Academic Advisors schedule first year students for their courses based on the major they have declared, first year seminar required courses and specific courses they have taken in high school. Students who have registered for June Orientation but are not able to attend either session will be mailed their fall schedules along with an Academic Advising packet. Students are then encouraged to call their Academic Advisor for additional clarification or scheduling changes if needed. First year students who start in the Spring semester, will be contacted by the Office of Advising in November to schedule a one-on-one advising appointment with their advisor to register for spring classes.
If you are unable to attend June Orientation OR are starting classes in the Spring semester: If you are not able to attend June Orientation, you can call the Office of Academic Advising at 603-897-8227 or e-mail email@example.com to schedule an appointment to meet with an Academic Advisor either in-person or via a phone appointment if you do not live within commuting distance to review your fall schedule and answer any questions you might have regarding your major, course selection and academic support services and resources available.
Once your deposit is received: Academic Advisors will meet with transfer students one-on-one to assist them in registering for fall courses starting in May and in mid-November for spring course registration. Once a transfer student has deposited for fall or spring, their academics records, i.e. high school, and college transcripts will be scanned into the system for an Advisor to evaluate. Once an evaluation is completed, a member of the Office of Academic Advising will contact the student to schedule an appointment with their Academic Advisor to plan out the fall or spring semester, and to review the student’s academic plan for degree completion.
