Campus Ministry

Service

Blessed Anne Marie Rivier said, “Your charity should shine forth in all your words and deeds; it should be the motivating force behind all you do.”  Catholic social teaching that calls upon each of us as disciples to help the poor in whatever ways that we can, through prayer, compassionate service, and advocating justice for the oppressed.  In the spirit of these two calls, Campus Ministry provides opportunities throughout the year for students to be involved in service to the local community and beyond.

Examples of ongoing opportunities are listed below:

Nashua Soup Kitchen: The first Wednesday of every month, Rivier serves at the Nashua Soup Kitchen on Chestnut Street in Nashua.  With food donations from dining services and student, faculty and staff volunteers, the patrons of the soup kitchen are served dinner on Riv! Alternative Spring Break: New Orleans, Louisiana:  We offer a Spring Break Service Trip to New Orleans, LA to serve the local community through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.  The experience invites people to participate in direct service, prayer, reflection, and justice. Volunteers do much-needed, practical service. The ASB experience encourages students to step out of their environment to see injustice firsthand through the lens of the Gospel.  Fundraising helps to offset the cost of the trip.  For more information or to sign up for this powerful experience, email campusministry@rivier.edu.
