Embedding Fonts

The fonts you use in a document determine exactly how that document appears when viewed or printed.

If you download and use a fancy font in a document, then send that document to another person who does not have that font on their system, Word substitutes a font. In some cases, symbols are substituted for characters and vice-versa. Even if the substituted font results in a readable document, the precise formatting may no longer apply since Word uses the character widths and sizing of the substituted font, not the original. Thus, text will flow differently and lines or pages will not break at the same place as originally intended.

Learn to embed fonts within the document:

Click Tools / Options
Go to Save tab
Check box Embed TrueType fonts
If you are using a small number of fonts, Check box Embed characters in use only
Also check off the Do not embed common system fonts box if it appears on the screen

OK to save the settings

Note:  Always save the document in .DOC format.
If you save in .RTF format, the fonts will not embed correctly.
