E-mail Forwarding and Replying Options

Office 2007 offers several options to change the appearance of original messages when forwarding or replying to messages. Select the option that meets your needs.

Open Outlook
Click Tools / Options / Preferences tab / E-mail Options
The following dialog box will open

Go to replies and forward
Click the black diamond for several options

Include original message text  
This is the default Outlook setting. The original message will be appended to your reply. Your text appears in blue to contrast with the black text in the original message.

Include original message

Do not include original message.  
Only your message appears in the e-mail message body.

Do not include original message

Attach original message.
The original message is included as an attachment with your message.

Include previous mail as attachment

Include and indent original message text.
The original message will be appended to your reply and indented one-half inch. Your text appears in blue to contrast with the black text in the original message.

Indent original message

Prefix each line of the original message.
The original message will be appended to your reply and indented. Your text appears in blue to contrast with the black text in the original message. In addition, the indented text of the original message is preceded by the text that you enter in the Prefix each line with box.

Click OK to lock in your configuration.
