Word Count in Footnotes and Endnotes

By default, Word does not include word count in footnotes, endnotes and text boxes.

If you are writing an article and need to include these items in the word count change the default setting:

Open document
Go to Review tab / Proofing Group
Click Word Count button

Word Count button in Proofing group

The Word Count dialog box displays

Select Include textboxes, footnotes and endnotes check box
Close
