Apply a Theme

A new feature in Office is the ability to apply predefined themes to the document. The Document Theme defines the colors, fonts, tables, charts and graphic effects for a document. Themes provide consistency across the document. They also provide a coordinated look in Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint slides.

The same theme will blend any graphics into a coordinated document that has a professional look.

Create your document first; then use the themes/styles to create a professional looking document.

Open Word
Go to Page Layout tab / Themes Group
Click Themes

The following predefined themes will display:

Select one of the theme or Select theme colors
This will give you an idea of what set of coordinated colors are used in the theme

Do not be surprised .... nothing will show on the document

Go to Home tab / Styles Group

The color of the Styles, etc. will change according to the Theme you select

Now you are ready to edit your document

Highlight text and select from the Styles headings

Heading 1
Heading 2

Select from the choices
