Filename and Path

When you have many folders and files, it is often difficult to find the one you want. A good way to overcome this problem, is to document the file and path.

Usually the information is added in a header, footer, at the beginning or end of a document.

Click where you want the documentation inserted.
Go to Insert Tab / Text group / Quick Parts button

Choose Field

A Field box displays:

From the Catetories drop-down list, Select Document information
From the Field Names list: select FileName
If you want to include the path:
Go to Field Option / Check Include the Path box
In the Field Properties section, format how the path/filename displays: lowercase is the general style

OK to lock in changes

Sample:  P: drive \ Folder name \ Title \ Format

Save the document

When you come to print the document, make sure to delete the filename path
When existing the document, do NOT SAVE the file. The coding will be lost.
