Run a Program for an Earlier Version of Windows

I have a program that does not run on Windows 7. Is there any way to open this program?

Running the program in compatibility mode allows you to run an older program written for an earlier version of Windows.

Right click on the program you want to run
Click Properties / Go to Compatibility tab
Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box
Click the black arrow for the Windows list
Select the earlier version of Windows
OK
 

The program should open without any difficulty.
