Save in Office .doc or .rtf Formats

Not all of the students, colleagues, etc. have MS Office.  If you plan to e-mail students or colleagues any Word documents, etc. make sure to save your documents in multiple formats.

Click File
Click Save as...
A dialog box will open
At the bottom of the screen find Save as type:
Click the black diamond at the end of the box
A drop-down list will display
Scroll down and click Word 97-2000 & 6.0/95 - RTF (*.doc)

Click Save

Anyone with Office 95, 97, or 2000 will be able to easily open and access the file.

Remember:  Microsoft Office reads down:
    Office 2003 reads all formats
Office XP will read Office 2000, 97, and 95
Office 2000 will read Office 97, and 95
Office 97 will read 95 and not Office 2000 and XP
Office 95 will read 95 and not Office 97, 2000 and XP

Another alternative is to save in Rich Text Format (*.rtf)
