Printing Black & White Handouts

Most of the PowerPoint presentations have a themed background for a professional look.

When handouts are printed with themed background problems occur:

1. If you use a colored printer the handouts will print in color.
2. If you use a black and white printer the handouts appear in grayscale.

Both of these options use a great deal of toner.

If you want to speed up the printing process and use less toner, change the theme and print handouts in black & white.

Change your theme to the white background default
Click the button

The following window will open:
Go to the Area: Available for Use section
Click the first option (default black & white)

 

After selecting the default, the presentation is now in Black and White

Go to File / Print
Go to the bottom of the pop-up screen

On the left-hand side of the screen
Print what: select Handouts from the drop-down list
Color/grayscale: select Pure Black and White

Handouts section:
From Slides per page: Select number from drop-down list
OK

This will print black text on a white background.

After the handouts are printed  Exit and do not save. The original presentation with theme is retained.

Note: Do not save another copy of your presentation with black & white background. A duplicate copy uses too much disk space.

Print the directions, then
Click on PPT: Advanced
NOTE: Depending on which version of PowerPoint you are using, you might encounter a problem. If so, please skip the hands-on demonstration.
