Lightbulb Tips

In PowerPoint 2000 the lightbulb tips are worth clicking. They contain useful tips about visual style and consistency in the slide show.

Turn on the Office Assistant

Click Help / Show Office Assistant

You will see the paperclip, dog or whatever you have chosen. Ignore the Assistant itself, but look for the lightbulb when you switch to a slide. If the lightbulb appears, click to see some advice for the current slide.

Some of the warnings are:

Ø
Text is too small
Ø
Too many bullet points on one slide
Ø
Standard upper/lower case for headings and text
Ø
Consistent punctuation

In this particular situation, these are the suggestions:

PowerPoint will give you options to fix the problem. You get the choice of accepting the suggestion, ignoring it, or changing the settings.

A lightbulb will appear for each problem PowerPoint detects on a slide based on each placeholder. Sometimes, it is not clear what part of the slide that the tip is referring to.

Overall, the tips are worthwhile.

If you do not like the look of your slide, click the Undo icon .
