Opening a PowerPoint Attachment with a .PPS Extension

PowerPoint presentation can be saved and viewed with two common file extensions:
.ppt files (default) open in edit mode within the PowerPoint program. You have full control over the program and can use all the menus and commands.

.pps files open in SlideShow View and cannot be edited. This is the most common format used for presentations that are e-mailed.

If you receive a e-mail with an attachment of a PowerPoint presentation with a .pps extension, and you cannot open the attachment, try the following:

Right click over the attachment
Save the PowerPoint file
Open the PowerPoint program
Click Open / go to the saved file
Double click and the file will open

Another way to open the file is to rename it:
from .pps to .ppt
or
from .ppt to .pps
