Outlook Web Access E-mail Address

Rivier College’s web email has a new address!  And in order to improve the security and speed of our email system, we have made minor changes to the way you access our Outlook Web Access (OWA).  In addition to an easier-to-remember address, our web-based email is a little faster and more secure.  The new method is currently up and available for immediate use.   If you use a shortcut or a bookmark on your computer to reach OWA, you should change it as soon as possible.  If you access email by going to the Rivier College web site and clicking on the email link, that link will still be available (it will be updated to the new address).

The new address?    http://email.rivier.edu.

This address can be used anywhere – both on and off campus.

A security alert will display anytime you use the new address on your personal computer until you take specific steps to “trust” Rivier College email.  Instructions on how to do that are in the attached document and will be posted on the web site.  Until you do, clicking “Yes” will allow you to proceed.

Did you install the RC Certificate Chain?  If no, Click Install the Rivier College Certificate Chain for instructions.

When you type in the address email.rivier.edu or click the “Sign-in” link on the web site, the below screen will appear.

Type in your username and password for access.  Premium OWA is what you are used to seeing if you have been using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) as your browser.  If you are using a slow connection, you can select “Basic” OWA.  It provides fewer features, but loads faster.  Even if you are on a slow connection, you may wish to try Premium since it, too, should be somewhat faster than before.

The other selection is for a Public or Private computer.  If you leave it on Public, your session will “time out” after 15 minutes of inactivity.  In other words, if you do no typing within OWA for 15 minutes and then try to open an email message, you will have to log on again.  If you select Private computer, the session will not time out for 24 hours.

If you have any difficulty with the new format, please contact IT Support at Ext. 8469 or via email at itsupport@rivier.edu.
