Controlling Junk E-mail and Adult Content

Outlook allows you to presort your personal, business, and junk messages. Junk and objectionable messages are becoming a nuisance on the network. Take control of the flow. You do have many options.

Background work :  prepare the folders
Click the Organize button on the Outlook toolbar
The following dialog box will open

Click the Junk E-Mail button at the bottom of the dialog box
Program the folders for Junk and Adult Content like the above model
Click Turn on button for both areas

The computer will automatically format the folders
A new screen will display the following

Close the Organize button

Now you are ready to control your Junk E-Mail and Adult Content sites

Automatically move all e-mail messages from a particular sender, vendor, junk e-mail provider, etc.

Click Inbox
Highlight a message from the sender you want to move
Double click the message to open in full screen
Click Actions
Junk E-mail / Add to Junk Senders list; or
Add to Adult Content Senders list

In the future, all the messages will be automatically removed from the desktop and sent directly to the Deleted Items file


For the more adventurous, there are other options you can customize.

You can View / Edit / Delete filters

At the bottom of the Junk E-mail option, there is a message
'For more options click here'.
Click / Bring up each category and edit the list as needed.

Exception List

Tools / Rules Wizard / Exception List
In the Rule Description box
Click Exception List
Enter the e-mail addresses you do not want screened
Ex.: www.rivier.edu

Add organizations, personal e-mail addresses, etc. that are important to your department or office
