The effects of the cells are set in datasheet view. The effects include how the horizontal and vertical gridlines will display.

Click Format
Click Datasheet

Select Gridlines Shown

Background Color

Gridline Color

Select Border

Select Styles

The changes will show in the grid
OK when you are satisfied

Click Raised effect and you are locked into a pre-formatted pattern.

Select Sunken cell effect and you are locked into a pre-formatted pattern.

Choose the type of Cell Effects that are best for you.
