Empty Deleted Items and Folder

Open Outlook program

Part One
Go to the Deleted Items folder and click to open the folder
The deleted items will display

Go to the Folder tab
In the Clean Up group select the Empty Folder icon
All the items will be deleted from the folder ... if you have many emails it will take a minute or two

Part Two
After you empty the Deleted Items folder click on the Recover Deleted Items icon all the Deleted items will appear
Click on the first Icon (Select All button)

All the items will be highlighted
Click the X box to permanently delete the items

A pop-up box displays with a message:  Select OK ... if you have many emails it will take a minute or two
The Deleted items will be permanently removed.

Click the Home tab to return to your regular Inbox screen 

You should clean out your folders at least once a week to maintain a peak performance.
With hundreds/thousands of messages, the program slows down
