Delores Davis ’94 M.B.A.
Delores Davis wanted to go further in her career as a contracting officer at Hanscom Air Force Base, so she decided to pursue an M.B.A. “Though I was working for the military, I wanted a civilian business point of view,” she says. Rivier offered her that perspective, allowing her to connect with classmates in a variety of industries.
When Delores retired from her job, she took on new responsibilities. In 2001, she began to apply her business knowledge and strong organizational skills in new ways as a member of Rivier's Alumni Council. “I was reading an article on living in a college town and it mentioned getting involved with the Alumni Association. I did, and it’s been one of the greatest decisions I’ve made,” she says.
A past Chair and Vice-Chair of the Alumni Council, Delores has helped the Council plan programs and activities that support Rivier's mission and help alumni enrich their relationships with the College. “I enjoy the alumni and being around the Council,” Delores says. “They’re a great bunch of people.”
Delores is also part of the Rivier Institute for Senior Education, currently serving as president. “Although retired, I wanted to continue to learn—RISE gave me that opportunity,” she says. She has taken courses in writing, watercolor, history, yoga, and aerobics and she facilitates a strength-training class.
In addition to taking on leadership roles within the Alumni Council and RISE, she has made financial gifts to the College to support the Annual Fund, various scholarships, and Designing the Future, Rivier’s first capital campaign. “Rivier is a very important institution in the community. It takes people—like myself—to continue to ensure that it’s a great organization,” Delores says.
